How Blayzer Digital Got Its Name

Spring is a time of growth and change, and we think it’s the perfect time to announce an important change here at 1901 Locust Street. We’ve shortened our name to Blayzer Digital and updated our branding to match! No, we didn’t ditch the marketing team – they’re still here, growing, and going strong. We shortened our name to prevent the misconception that marketing is all that we do. The truth is we do so much more!

Ecommerce has always been a big part of our business, but we’ve developed a true specialization in this area in recent years. We’ve worked with a wide range of clients on ecommerce web projects, developed our partner ecosystem, and refined our ecommerce marketing skills. Not only is ecommerce a major part of who we are today, it’s who we want to be in the future. We needed our name to give us room to grow in that direction, and that means reflecting that our process encompasses more than digital marketing.

Our approach is to build long-term relationships with our clients so we can assist them past the finish line and beyond, while other companies have a rinse-and-repeat business model where they take your money, develop software, deliver and then move on to their next project.

We start with strategy. We examine our client’s marketing opportunities and needs, and apply those elements into the web solution as it is being developed. Since the development shop is empowered by marketing principles, marketing is built into the solution from day one. So you don’t need to go back and make expensive fundamental changes in order to move your business forward.

How Has Blayzer Changed Over Time?

Our team began by building websites under the name Third Eye Media in the early 2000s. The more clients we served, the more we realized that content management system software was the next big thing. Of course, with WordPress and other content management systems today, we take for granted being able to login and easily edit a page. But back then, creating a database-driven website was special.

To reflect our new service offerings at that time, we changed our name to Content Executive.

As Content Executive grew, we added marketing services to support the websites we were building, and before we knew it, we realized that we had outgrown our name again. We initially created Blayzer around 2010 as a go-to-market brand for working with other agencies, taking on heavier back-end custom development work. Eventually website content management became less of a novel concept, and we began rounding out our suite of online marketing and content services. So we decided to end the era of Content Executive and go all-in with the Blayzer Digital Marketing Group brand around 2015.

As ecommerce brought around a new digital renaissance throughout the late 2010s, Blayzer became increasingly proficient at building successful ecommerce solutions, drawing on the strong development backbone we have had at our core since our beginning. Our reputation as a skilled custom developer grew, but time and again, people were surprised to learn about the extent of our development capabilities. We realized that our brand was not accurately reflecting the full scope of who we are. Moving forward today as Blayzer Digital, our name now communicates the value of our team’s more diversified skill set.
